1. These terms
By using this website, creating a profile, sending a brief or sending a request to connect, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
They are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates, and the courts of Dubai have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute.
2. What thecirq is, and what it is not
thecirq is a directory. We introduce businesses to freelancers and studios. We are not an employment agency, we are not a party to any agreement you reach with someone you meet here, and we do not supervise, direct or control the work.
Any contract, fee, scope, deadline, licence or intellectual property arrangement is between you and the other party. We are not responsible for the quality, legality or timeliness of the work, or for either side’s failure to pay or perform.
3. Your status and responsibilities
Platform position. The Cirq is a platform and directory that enables freelancers and independent studios to showcase their work and connect with potential clients.
Member responsibility. Members are responsible for ensuring that they have the appropriate visa status, freelance permit, trade licence, work permission or other authorisation required to provide their services in the UAE or any other jurisdiction in which they operate.
What The Cirq does not provide. The Cirq does not provide, arrange or sponsor visas, work permits, freelance permits or trade licences, and does not act as an employer, recruitment agency or manpower supplier.
Ongoing obligations. Members remain responsible for their own legal, regulatory, tax and licensing obligations.
Profile accuracy. Members are responsible for keeping profile information accurate and current, and for having the right to display portfolio material, images, videos, logos and other content they upload or link to.
Introductions. The Cirq may introduce or shortlist freelancers and studios to businesses based on a project brief. An introduction does not guarantee work, engagement or payment.
Project agreements. Unless expressly agreed otherwise for a particular service, the business and the freelancer or studio are responsible for agreeing their own scope, fees, deliverables, payment terms and contractual arrangements.
No employment relationship. Joining The Cirq, or being introduced to a business, does not create an employer/employee relationship with The Cirq.
Portfolio and intellectual property. Members retain ownership of their content while granting The Cirq permission to display it on their profile and, where appropriate, to feature it within The Cirq’s website and promotional channels. Use in paid advertising requires a separate opt-in.
Disputes and liability. The Cirq facilitates discovery and introductions, but is not responsible for project performance, payment disputes, intellectual-property disputes or contractual disagreements between members and businesses, except where liability cannot legally be excluded.
Removal. The Cirq may suspend or remove profiles that breach these terms, contain misleading information, infringe third-party rights, or create legal or reputational risk.
4. Joining as a freelancer or studio
- You must be 18 or over and entitled to work legally on the projects you take in the UAE. Holding the right permit or licence is your responsibility, not ours.
- Everything on your profile must be accurate and about you. Do not present someone else’s work as your own.
- You must own or be licensed to use every image, video and piece of work you upload, and you must have permission to name the brands you list under “Worked with”.
- Every profile is reviewed before it goes live. We may decline or remove a profile that breaks these terms, and we will tell you why.
It is free to join and create a profile during our launch phase. If that changes, we will tell existing members well in advance and nothing will start charging without your agreement.
5. Using the directory as a business
- Contact details of freelancers and studios are not published. You send a request to connect through us, and we pass it on.
- Do not use the directory to send marketing, recruit for unrelated roles, or scrape profiles.
- Briefs and attachments must be yours to send.
6. Your content
You keep ownership of everything you upload. By uploading it you give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, display and reproduce it for the purpose of running and promoting the directory — for example showing your work in the Featured Work section, crediting you and linking to your profile. You can end that licence by removing the content or asking us to delete your profile.
7. Things you must not do
- Post anything unlawful, misleading, discriminatory, obscene or infringing
- Impersonate another person or business
- Interfere with the site, probe it for vulnerabilities, or use automated tools to copy its content
- Use the site to send unsolicited commercial messages
We may suspend or remove an account that does any of these.
8. Cirq Curated
Where you ask us to shape a brief and assemble a team, we will use reasonable skill and care. We do not guarantee a particular outcome, a particular person’s availability, or a turnaround time unless we have agreed one with you in writing.
9. Availability
We aim to keep the site available but do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may change, suspend or withdraw any part of it, and will give notice where that reasonably affects you.
10. Liability
Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited under UAE law.
Subject to that, we are not liable for loss of profit, business, goodwill or data, or for any indirect or consequential loss; and our total liability to you for anything connected with the site is limited to AED 1,000.
11. Ending your use
You can delete your profile at any time from your dashboard or by writing to us. We may end your access if you break these terms. Sections 5, 9 and 10 survive.
12. Changes
We may update these terms. The date at the top of this page shows when they last changed, and we will email registered members about significant changes.
